• Successful real estate on the Internet and web with Jim Crawford real estate trainer and coach for Internet and Technology!
Here are some observations that I would like to share with you regarding "Success on the Internet!" I gained these insights from speaking to agent groups across the country, on line, and in mastermind groups. One major common element that I've found... is that most agents do not have a clue as to what to expect from their website. They do not know the difference of an email address or url, yet expect they should be making mega bucks from their website. That is hard to swallow, especially since they tell me on the side they only read their email once a week. They will share with me personally after a presentation, is that they do not understand anything about the Internet, but know that they have to have a website. I would ask why? Yet most are willing to pay dearly for a site, throw money at a webmaster, buy a dozen domain names, and then say "It doesn't work, but I use it as a listing tool!" I think that is the wrong answer. I mean wouldn't it be better if your site was actually making real money? I also get a lot of inquiries each week from agents that I've met, that ask me how to do things. They want to know how to get more business from the Internet, get better web position...etc... but they don't realize, I work full time at real estate. Our web business is very successful, but it takes a lot of research time, and web development. That is the main reason that we do well with it. However there is a payoff if you understand the process, and are willing to do some self-education. A major part of success on the Internet begins with a basic understanding of how it works, and how does the Internet user find you? The only way you can get the answer this, is by personally doing some research. At this point, most agents will tell me that they do not have time to spend researching on the Internet, because it will take away from their productivity. So how can you delegate this out, if you have no knowledge of what you are doing, or should expect from it? What an agent should realize, this is a productive activity that will produce real money, and lots of it if approached correctly. It is one of those things, you just can't throw a lot of money at, you have to roll up your sleeves, and get down to some natty gritty web marketing research. On the bright side, this research will actually make you a lot of money in closed sales and referrals, and save you a lot of money in traditional marketing dollars.
